DRY SUIT DIVER
Master drysuit diving...
Want to stay warm when the water temperature drops? This one-day course is designed to teach the correct & safe techniques for drysuit diving.

This lesson will tell you about the two different types of drysuit, the features they embody and why a BC should be used with a drysuit. Unlike a wetsuit, a drysuit is an 'active' piece of equipment that can cause problems if not used correctly.

Drysuit diving involves new equipment and new skills: this course will introduce them, first in the classroom and then in the water.

FIRST AID FOR DIVERS
Learn essential skills for diving and life!
This one-day course teaches the basics of non-resuscitation first aid likely to be needed in the BSAC diving environment.

There is lots of practice on the course (under the guidance of experienced instructors) giving you the confidence to give first aid in a real emergency. It includes making use of the resources likely to be available at the time including improvisation of dressings and splints using materials and equipment commonly found at the dive site or in a boat.

If you already have first aid training, this course is a quick and easy way to 'practice, practice, practice' your skills, while learning the best way to apply them in diving. First aid skills deteriorate rapidly if not used or practiced regularly so it is recommended that students undertake a refresher course at least every three years.

TWINSET DIVER
Master your twinset with rectotec...
This two-day course teaches divers how to use the correct techniques when diving a twinset (whether independent or manifolded).

A central theme running through this course and a basic principle of twin-set diving is self-sufficiency within a buddy diving context. This concept translates in practice as adopting an attitude and equipment provision that supports oneself as the first port of call response for resolving a problem. However this does not mean solo diving. When all else fails a buddy is always going to be the ultimate source of assistance.

The Twin-set Diving course has a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons, teaching you:

  • Configurations, Ancillary Equipment & Failure Mode Responses
  • Dive planning and monitoring
  • Practical Equipment configuration
  • Open Water practice

This course is also designed to complement Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP).

COURSE INFO
Prerequisites:
  • Current BSAC member and BSAC Sports Diver (or equivalent) plus 20 additional dives including depth experience to 35 metres
Duration:
  • 2 Days
Includes:
  • Twinset Diver course manual and a Qualification Card
Cost:
  • £200.00
Additional qualifications awarded:
  • BSAC Advanced Twinset Diver. A diver who holds BSAC Sports Diver (or equivalent BSAC approved other agency certification with a 35 metre depth rating, decompression diving and diver rescue capabilities), who in addition has successfully completed BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures and BSAC Twinset Diver certifications may apply to BSAC HQ for certification as a BSAC Advanced Twinset Diver and become qualified to plan and conduct dives to a maximum depth of 40 metres

SPORTS MIXED GAS DIVER
Go beyond the limits of recreational diving...
COURSE DURATION
The course manual recommends a minimum of 2 days however I increase the course duration and add extra dives to allow more time to hone skills.
COURSE SCHEDULE
Are you an experienced diver but want to extend your range to 50 metres on open circuit? The BSAC Sports Mixed Gas Diver course is your first step into the world of trimix diving.

The benefit of using gas mixes containing helium is controlling to an extent, the effect of nitrogen narcosis. The narcotic effect of nitrogen becomes debilitating as depth increases. Controlling the narcotic effect of the gas at depth enables improved awareness, therefore safer than deep air diving.

This course introduces divers to mixed gas diving using open circuit dive equipment. It teaches experienced divers to use mixed gas to expand their current skills to be able to dive a maximum depth of 50 metres using the most appropriate gas mix. The course uses gas mixes of oxygen greater than or equal to 20% and helium less than or equal to 30%.
