The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating. The path starts with earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification, followed by PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certifications). You also need to earn five PADI Specialty Diver certifications and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.

The lure of the deep. There's something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it's a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge.

Whatever it is that draws you into the depths, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres, you should take the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course. The Deep Diver specialty is ideal for any diver who wishes to dive to a depth of 40m. The course covers a variety of topics such as dive planning, decompression illnesses, light absorption, nitrogen narcosis and equipment associated with deep diving.

DRYSUIT DIVER
Stay warm and dry when the temperature drops...
The Drysuit specialty is designed to teach you how to dive in a dry suit safely.

Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you from the cold water outside. This means you'll not only enjoy the dive more, but may be able to stay underwater longer and offer redundant buoyancy. Skills include ascent and descent techniques, buoyancy, emergency procedures and routine maintenance.

Oxygen is the primary treatment for diving accidents so in order to administer oxygen safely why not attend the Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty course!

Knowing how and when to use emergency oxygen is a great skill to have and means you're ready to help others should the need arise. Becoming a PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider lets you breathe easy knowing that you can recognize scuba diving illnesses treatable with emergency oxygen, and are prepared to offer aid.

This course has no prerequisites and doesn't include dives, which means it is equally applicable to boat crew and non-diving buddies such as family members, lifeguards and shore staff.

ENRICHED AIR NITROX DIVER

The Enriched Air Diver specialty is one of PADI's most popular courses as enriched air, or Nitrox, allows you to increase your no decompression dive time.

The course covers a variety of topics such as advantages and disadvantages of enriched air, dive planning including calculating your maximum operating depth (MOD) and setting up your dive computer, analysing your breathing gas and equipment considerations.

There is no diving required to complete the Enriched Air Diver specialty and it's also available online, so you can complete the theory in your own time followed by a few practical exercises to finish your education.

PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY

The RescuEAN Pod is a life-saving product that delivers Nitrox mixes safely at a constant flow to an injured diver in accordance with the standards of current best clinical practice.

SELF RELIANT DIVER

Although not a solo diver course, the Self-Reliant Diver specialty is ideal for photographers, videographers or Divemasters, or the buddies of said individuals who although dive within the buddy environment, can often find themselves alone as their buddy is concentrating on other tasks.

The two reasons for an experienced diver to take the Self-Reliant Diver course is to develop the skills of planning and carrying out dives without a partner when preferred or necessary, and to sharpen skills of diving self-reliance, making the diver a stronger partner in a dive pair or team.

Surface Marker Buoy

Nearly all dive boats both in the UK and abroad recommend that you carry a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) or Delayed SMB (DSMB) whilst diving.

This is not only to let the surface cover know where you are but to ensure your safety during your ascent as the surface above you should be free of hazards.

You'll also learn more about how your gear works, making you more comfortable with it and better prepared to take care of your investment. This one-day workshop has been developed by the RNLI in association with the British Diving Safety Group (BDSG) to improve diver safety while out at sea.
