Scuba Diving International (SDI) was created in 1999 and grew out of the success of its sister company TDI, which specializes in the more advanced disciplines of dive training.
Both students and instructors have embraced the no nonsense approach that the SDI training system offers. SDI have streamlined the course materials to let students study the essential academics with an emphasis on practical diving skills learned in both the pool and open water environments. SDI is the only scuba training and certification agency to require students to be taught with modern dive computers from the onset of training.

ADVANCED BUOYANCY

Do you struggle to maintain buoyancy? Do you struggle to stay in one play whilst performing a task? Would you like to be able to hover mid-water?

By being correctly weighted, neutrally buoyant and in trim you will be able to effortlessly move through the water and improve your gas consumption. The Advanced Buoyancy course teaches you all these skills and more...

This specialty is designed to increase the open water diver's understanding of the factors that influence buoyancy, and to train the diver how to use the means available to him as methods for controlling his buoyancy. The added benefits to the marine and freshwater environments, cannot be overstated; as well as a diver that has better control of himself in conjunction with his environment.

COMPUTER NITROX DIVER
Master nitrox diving using a dive computer
The SDI Computer Nitrox course covers the use of Nitrox mixtures from 22 to 40 percent oxygen in an easy to understand manner by making use of a Nitrox programmable computer.

The benefits of using Nitrox include increased safety margins, reduced post dive fatigue and extended no-decompression times.

DEEP DIVER
Venture into unexplored territory...
The Deep Diver course is a must for any diver wishing to explore a little more and will teach you the risks and benefits of deep diving.

The course covers a variety of topics such as dive planning, decompression illnesses, nitrogen narcosis and equipment associated with deep diving. By the end of the course you will be qualified to dive to a maximum depth of 40m.

This course is designed to introduce you to those risks and their management in a comprehensive and enjoyable format. You will work your way through the six short chapters that make up the self-study portion of this fully sanctioned SDI specialty course at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home. The Drysuit Diver course is designed to teach you how to dive in a dry suit safely.

The SDI Dry Suit Diver Course will open up a whole new world of diving to you. Many of the diving environments around the world are better experienced in a dry suit. Why? These areas have an abundance of marine life waiting to be seen and photographed - they just happen to be a little colder!

Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you from the cold water outside. This means you'll not only enjoy the dive more, but may be able to stay underwater longer and offer redundant buoyancy. Skills include ascent and descent techniques, buoyancy, emergency procedures and routine maintenance.

RESCUEAN
Master the RescuEAN life-saving pod...
The RescuEAN Pod is a life-saving product that delivers Nitrox mixes safely at a constant flow to an injured diver in accordance with the standards of current best clinical practice.

It can be used for both conscious and unconscious casualties, as well as those individuals who deteriorate into Cardiac Arrest and require resuscitation prior to the arrival of the Emergency Medical Services. The RescuEAN course covers the parts and the maintenance of the pod along with its use on both breathing and non-breathing casualties.

SOLO DIVER
Learn to dive solo today...
One of SDI's most popular courses and the only Solo Diver course available to divers.

Solo diving, once considered technical diving and discouraged by most certification agencies, is now seen by many experienced divers and some certification agencies as an acceptable practice for those divers suitably trained and experienced.

Rather than relying on the traditional buddy diving safety system, solo divers should be skilled in self-sufficiency and willing to take responsibility for their own safety while diving.

This is the perfect course for underwater photography and underwater video divers as well as those diving with their children or buddies that may not very experienced in scuba diving.

UNDERWATER NAVIGATION
Never get lost underwater again...
It's easy enough getting lost above the water, let alone below it. The Underwater Navigation course is designed to teach you a variety of topics such as navigation patterns, natural navigation (without a compass) and estimating distance to name a few.

Divers are intensely fascinated by navigation… It allows them to make their way back to a special spot discovered on an earlier dive. WRECK DIVER
Learn to explore sunken shipwrecks...
Shipwrecks are a passage into the past and with each wreck there is a story to tell. Wreck diving can be one of the most exciting aspects of sport diving and can uncover pieces of history seen by few others. Wrecks are also haven for fish life.

The Wreck Diver course covers a variety of topics such as line laying, propulsion methods, the use of lights, how to avoid common hazards and emergency procedures. This course may be taught as a non-penetration (2 total dives) or limited-penetration* (3 total dives) course.

* Limited penetration is defined as "swim through within the ambient light of an entry point".

RNLI SEA SURVIVAL WORKSHOP
Learn essential sea survival skills...
This one-day workshop has been developed by the RNLI in association with the British Diving Safety Group (BDSG) to improve diver safety while out at sea.

The course aims to refresh existing safety and rescue skills as well as introduce some new techniques for improving surface location and survival skills in an emergency situation.
